John Gourley is the co-founder, songwriter, lead singer and lead guitarist for Portugal. The Man. Zach Carothers is the other co-founder of the band, and plays bass.

They are 2018 Grammy winners, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, for the Billboard #1 hit song “Feel It Still“.

The song is the biggest Billboard crossover hit in 5 years and broke the Billboard record for most weeks at #1 on Alternative Songs chart.

The song also won the iHeartRadio Music Award for Alternative Rock Song of the Year.
