Brian Michael Bendis is an award winning comics creator, New York Times bestseller and one of the most successful writers working in mainstream comics. For the last sixteen years, Brian’s books have consistently sat on the top of the nationwide comic and graphic novel sales charts.

SONY’s live action series based on POWERS, the Eisner award-winning comic series by Brian and Mike Avon Oeming, has debuted on the Playstation network with Brian as executive producer and contributing writer. The show stars Sharlto Copley, Susan Heyward, Michael Madsen and Michelle Forbes. Sony has announced it is the top streaming show on their service and has renewed it for a second season.

Brian is also the co-creator and consulting producer of JESSICA JONES on Netflix from Marvel TV.

For Marvel entertainment, Brian is currently the writer of the best selling INVINCIBLE IRON MAN, SPIDER-MAN and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY series and the major summer event CIVIL WAR 2.
The introduction of the multiracial SPIDER-MAN, Miles Morales, made the front page of USA Today and went on to become an international hotbed political topic featured on Fox News, CNN, The Daily Show, Conan O’Brien Howard Stern and many others.

Brian’s release from Random House entitled WORDS FOR PICTURES is an intricate look at the creation of comic books and graphic novels based on the college level Graphic Novel class he teaches at Portland State University.  It shot to number one on its Amazon chart.

Before that, Brian completed a 100 issue run on the X-Men franchise with the debut of ALL NEW X-MEN and UNCANNY X-MEN and 9 years helming Marvel’s popular AVENGERS franchise by writing every issue of the NEW AVENGERS plus debuting the hit books AVENGERS, MIGHTY AVENGERS and DARK AVENGERS along with the wildly successful ‘event’ projects AVENGERS VERSUS X-MEN, HOUSE OF M, SECRET WAR, SECRET INVASION, AGE OF ULTRON, and SIEGE.

Brian is one of the premiere architects of Marvel comic’s Ultimate line of comics. He has written every issue of ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN since it’s best selling launch in 1999, and has also written ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR, X-MEN, MARVEL TEAM UP, ORIGIN, SIX, CATACLYSM, END and the ENEMY trilogy.

Brian’s creator owned projects include SCARLET (w/ Alex Maleev), BRILLIANT (w/ Mark Bagley), the Eisner award winning “POWERS,” “UNITED STATES OF MURDER INC.” and “TAKIO” (w/ Mike Oeming) and the Hollywood tell all “FORTUNE AND GLORY’.  All published through the Marvel ICON line.

Previously, Brian was part of the Marvel creative committee which consulted for all of the Marvel movies from the first IRON MAN all the way through to this year’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

Brian was the head writer of the massive multiplayer online game MARVEL UNIVERSE for Marvel and Gazillion games and helped create the Marvel expansion to the Disney Infinity franchise.

Brian is the creator of the JINX line of crime comics published by image comics. This line has spawned the graphic novels GOLDFISH, FIRE, JINX, TORSO (w/ Marc Andreyko) and TOTAL SELL OUT.

Brian has won five EISNER awards, including ‘Best Writer of the year’ two years in a row and was honored with the prestigious INKPOT award for comic art excellence. Brian is the recipient of the Cleveland Press ‘Excellence in Journalism’ Award.

Brian received an HONORARY DOCTORATE IN THE ARTS from the Cleveland Institute of Art.

He lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Alisa, his gorgeous daughters Olivia, Tabatha, Sabrina, his dashing son London and his dogs Lucky and Max.
